13 Best Halloween Activities in Utah
Best Halloween Activities in Utah: Visit a Pumpkin Patch
1. Hee Haw Farms, Pleasant Grove
Hee Haw Farms is one of our favorite pumpkin patches in Utah and a great budget-friendly option for families with little kids. In addition to the pumpkin patch, they have a corn maze, a cool playground made from farm equipment, and a small petting zoo.
What really makes Hee Haw unique is the giant pumpkin weigh-off and pumpkin drop. They have huge pumpkins that weight hundreds, sometimes thousands, of pounds, which they raise into the air on a crane and promptly drop. People love gathering to watch the smashing pumpkins (not be confused with the alternative rock band The Smashing Pumpkins).
2. Kuwahara Farm, Riverton
Kuwahara Farm is one of the best pumpkin patches in Utah, best known for its pumpkin patch and Halloween Village. It also has bounce houses, a corn pit, a corn maze and face painting for kids. There are nightly performances, which have included fire dancers dressed as skeletons in the past.
Tickets for the pumpkin patch are just $5 and goes towards the purchase of your pumpkins but if you want to experience the Halloween Village, tickets are $18.95 on weeknights and $24.95 on weekends.
3. See Utah’s Biggest Jack-o-Lantern
The Traverse Mountain Outlet Mall always goes all-out for holidays and Halloween is no exception. Don’t miss your chance to capture family photos in front of Utah’s biggest jack-o-lantern, creating cherished memories of a larger-than-life Halloween experience. Kids can even do a Halloween-themed scavenger hunt and collect a prize. It’s like trick-or-treating early – it will no doubt be one of your kids’ favorite Halloween activities in Utah. Afterwards, hit up the shops for some good deals and pumpkin-flavored treats.
Halloween Activities in Utah: Halloween Lights
4. Boo Lights at Hogle Zoo
What kid doesn’t love visiting the zoo? Hogle Zoo is the largest zoo in Utah – it sits on 42 acres near the mouth of Emigration Canyon in Salt Lake City. The zoo normally closes at 6:00pm but in October they open back up from 6:30-9:30 for a special Halloween light show called Boo Lights at Hogle Zoo. It’s fun to walkthrough all the different light displays and hear the sounds of the zoo at night, which you don’t get to do normally. The only downside is many of the animals are not active in the evening or after dark.
5. Fright Lights at The Crazy Corn Maze
Crazy Corn Maze is on my fall bucket list this year because it seems to be one of the most unique fall attractions in Utah. On top of the corn maze what really makes them stand out as one of the best pumpkin patches in Utah is their “Fright Lights” attraction (think Christmas in Color meets Halloween). You walk through a pumpkin patch pathway with light shows synced to music. I know my kids will go crazy for it! Tickets are $15 and include a pumpkin to take home from the patch.
6. Stroll the Decorated Homes in Daybreak
When it comes to Halloween spirit, South Jordan’s Daybreak community takes the cake! This tight-knit neighborhood transforms into a spooktacular wonderland every October. Strolling through the streets, you’ll discover a Halloween haven with homes decked out in jaw-dropping themes like Disney’s Encanto, A Nightmare Before Christmas, Stranger Things, and Harry Potter. The dedication and creativity of Daybreak’s residents make it an unbeatable destination for a magical, eerie, and enchanting Halloween experience that your family won’t soon forget.
Halloween Activities in Utah: Not-Too-Scary Haunted Attractions
7. Evermore Park, Pleasant Grove
Evermore Park in Pleasant Grove is a fantasy-themed village with characters, quests, games, and shops. Think of it like a permanent Renaissance fair that does different themes throughout the year. During the months of September and October, Evermore’s theme is Lore and the village transforms into a spooky wonderland. There’s a train ride with ghost stories, a haunted walkthrough, archery, ax throwing, and all kinds of performers. It’s a fully immersive experience without getting too creepy or scary for kids. Tickets are $19 for adults and $14 for kids.
8. Haunted Half Marathon & Kids Fun Run
Halloween Activities in Utah: Fall Festivals
9. Witchfest, Gardner Village
Gardner Village has started advertising on billboards that they’re “Utah’s own silo experience”, referring to Magnolia Market at The Silos in Waco, Texas (made famous by Chip & Joanna Gaines). It’s an appropriate comparison – it’s a collection of boutique shops that sits on the site of an old mill from the 1800s.
Eevery year from mid-September through Halloween, Gardner Village hosts Witchfest. The shops all get decked out with witch displays and there’s a witch scavenger hunt for kids. Admission is free if you want to check out the displays and do some window shopping.
10. Scarecrow Festival, Thanksgiving Point
Thanksgiving Point does a fantastic job of making the botanical gardens fun year round but the Scarecrow Festival in October is one of our favorite times to visit. People can design and build their own scarecrows and enter them in the week-long contest. Visitors can wander the gardens enjoying the different themed scarecrows and vote on their favorites.
We’ve seen some hilarious scarecrows, from Thanos & the Avengers to Dwight Schrute from The Office to Jack Skellington from A Nightmare Before Christmas. The Scarecrow Festival is free for members, otherwise it’s $24 for adults and $18 for kids.
11. Cornbelly’s Fall Festival, Lehi
Cornbelly’s is one of the most popular fall activities in Utah, mainly because of the many rides and attractions, not to mention the fireworks shows (which happen every Friday & Saturday night). We love going to Cornbelly’s and think it’s one of the most festive ways to celebrate Halloween.
Going to Cornbelly’s is one of our favorite Halloween activities in Utah because it has over 60 attractions, rides, and games and there’s something for everyone. We’ve never been able to do everything in one visit. Our kids favorites are the giant slides and “Corn Cob Beach” (basically a huge pit filled with corn kernels that is surprisingly fun to play in). There’s even a light show every night and fireworks every Friday & Saturday in October.
Halloween Activities in Utah: Spooky Scenery
12. Heber Valley Railroad
Heber Valley Railroad (aka the Heber Creeper) is a slow but scenic railroad ride through the Heber Valley and along Deer Creek Reservoir. It’s a great kid-friendly activity any time of year because they always have fun themed rides, whether it’s princess or super heroes or the Polar Express in the winter.
During the month of October they’ve got a few festive options – the Halloween Train featuring the Sanderson sisters from Hocus Pocus, the Pumpkin Train that includes taking home a pumpkin with every ticket, and a Harry Potter-themed Wizard Train. Be sure to check the website for the different dates and reserve tickets well in advance. It’s a popular activity and often sells out.
13. Halloween Lift Ride at Sundance
There’s a reason why Robert Redford bought Sundance in 1969 and committed to creating a community of artists and nature lovers there for the next five decades. The place is insanely beautiful and boasts one of the best views of all of Utah – Mount Timpanogos. It’s a must-see stop when you drive the Alpine Loop.
What you might not know is that the ski lifts aren’t just for skiing in the winter – they run when there’s no snow, too. It’s a bit pricey at $25 for adults and $23 for kids, but kids 5 and under are free. You can ride the lift anytime but the week before Halloween there are some festive decorations to add to the fun.
Unlike Park City, there’s no Alpine Slide ride on the way down. So just enjoy the ride up, walk around the summit, and eat lunch at the famous Bearclaw Cabin. You’ll see why we think it’s one of the best Halloween activities in Utah.
